This is a less than ideal situation, since the truck bed can go so far as hitting your tires, damaging the bottom of the truck bed in the long term. Obviously, this is something everyone wants to avoid. Luckily, the designers and engineers at RAM have figured out a solution that will definitely resolve this issue. Introducing the new Active-Level™ Four-Corner Air Suspension system! This innovative design will also the truck body to remain level, while under a lot of strain.
How does it work?
Take the Ram 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab, for example. There are various sensors, located strategically along the frame. When the sensors detect that the truck body isn’t perfectly level (horizontal), the adjustable air springs mounted at the four corners of the truck will pump air into the said springs, adjusting the height and leveling out the truck. A certified computer system controls this design, to ensure a constant, horizontal position. Five Modes
There are five modes to choose from with the new Ram Active-Level™ Four-Corner Air Suspension system, for your driving convenience.
CRUISING THROUGH THE CITY – Normal Mode is the simplest, most comfortable and most convenient form of travel, as it is the perfect balance of ride and handling, to make your daily commute less of a chore.
OFF-ROAD ADVENTURES – Expect an excellent drive with Off-Road 1 mode. This mode offers an extra degree of clearance, in less intense situations. The front of the truck is +1.2 inches higher than normal mode and the rear is only +0.9 inches higher than normal, making for a well-balanced ride.
HITTING THE TRAILS – Off-Road 2 mode is perfect for paths and trails, as it offers remarkable ground clearance and very generous angles for approach and departure, adding just +2.0 inches of height. This is the mode best used when the driving scenario is more intense.
OPERATING THE HIGHWAY – Aero Mode is automatically engaged when driving at highway speeds, lowering the truck and reducing the aerodynamic. It also greatly improves fuel efficiency, making for an overall great drive. The height difference is approximately -0.6 inches from normal mode.
IN AND OUT CONVENIENCE – Entry/Exit Mode will automatically lower your vehicle, making it much easier to maneuver in and out of your truck, load the truck bed and/or hook up your trailer. The difference between normal and Entry/Exit Mode is -2.1 inches in the front and -1.7 inches in the rear.
